Claim Options for Child Health Cover

Once your child's health claim has been agreed by Freedom Healthnet and the Specialist recommends a surgical procedure is required, we will then confirm the monetary amount your child's Freedom health policy pays in respect of the claim.

You then have several choices:

Treatment at a private hospital in the UK as a self pay patient

Most hospitals will offer fixed price packages where the cost of your child's health or medical procedure and all associated costs are fixed. The procedure cost may vary depending on your individual circumstances but the cost will be guaranteed prior to the treatment. Should you wish to take advantage of a fixed price package you can negotiate a package directly with the hospital. If the cost of the treatment is lower than the benefit level then you will be able to keep any surplus. Please note you are responsible for settling any invoices associated with your child's health or medical procedure directly with the hospital and any shortfalls if the hospital charge exceeds your procedure benefit.

Treatment on the NHS

If you choose to have treatment on the NHS, you can keep the full benefit amount for your surgical procedure.

Treatment abroad

You can choose to have health or medical treatment for your child anywhere in the world. If the cost of the treatment is lower than the benefit level then you will be able to keep the surplus. Please note you are responsible for settling any invoices associated with the procedure directly to the hospital and any shortfalls if the hospital charge exceeds your procedure benefit.
