Health Insurance Over 60 and 70+

Health insurance provides peace of mind. We can relax in the knowledge that if anything unexpected happens to us we will be taken care of. This becomes even more important as we get older.

Can I still take out cover if I am 75?

Yes. If you are new to Freedom Healthnet Ltd you will be offered health insurance as long as you are 75 or under. However, once you are with us you will continue to have cover until such time as you decide you no longer want it. Other companies have much more restrictive policies and some will not even provide medical insurance for people of 64.

Will I need a medical?

No, you will not need to have a medical to take out health insurance with Freedom. However, depending on your age you will have a different type of cover:

60 - 65 years old. If you are in this age range you can take out what is known as a moratorium insurance policy. This means that you will only need to give brief medical and family history details when you first sign up. Only if you make a claim will you need to go into details. With this type of policy any medical condition which you have have 5 years prior to your application will not be covered for two years under your new policy.

66-75 years old. If you are in this age group you will need full medical underwriting. This involves filling out a detailed medical questionnaire which looks into your health and details of your families medical history. The advantages of this type of policy is that you will know in advance exactly what you will and will not be covered for.

How much will it cost?

Gold Inpatient Only Medical Insurance
Age 60: £63.02

Platinum Inpatient Only Medical Insurance
Age 60: £64.90

Diamond Plus No Options Medical Insurance
Age 60: £87.30

Why take out health insurance cover?

As always with Freedom Healthnet medical insurance you know you have choices. If you do fall ill we pay you directly. This means that you can choose how you spend your money. You could opt for using the NHS and then treating yourself to something else with the money.

As we've already mentioned, medical health insurance gives you the peace of mind that you can be treated quickly in clean and pleasant surroundings in private healthcare if that is your choice.

Another important point is that as you get older it could be possible that the NHS will drag their feet when it comes to treating you. If you have medical insurance you will always be entitled to treatment however the NHS have limited funds and they sometimes have to make difficult decisions about when and who they treat.
