18 weeks still too long for 80% of people

Eight out of ten people in the UK still think that NHS waiting lists are too long. That’s according to a survey carried out by BUPA. The results are perhaps a disappointment for health service bosses who have just achieved the lowest waiting list times at eighteen weeks since records began. But according to the study, the almost half of those people believe that they shouldn’t have to wait for longer than a month for treatment on the NHS. This is the sort of waiting time a person could expect if they had access to private healthcare, made easier for the average person through private health insurance.

We don’t want to wait for anything these days – we can order something on the internet and it will arrive within a matter of hours. This lifestyle has said to be blamed for our attitude towards the NHS. The average wait is now 8.6 weeks for a GP referral but for some people this is still too long. By visiting a private healthcare clinic, this wait can be reduced even further but costs can be off putting especially for those people who cannot afford the fees. However, private health insurance, particularly cash plan private health cover is one way in which people can gain access to these top quality services. Many people think of private health insurance as a luxury, but with premiums from as little as £10.88 a month it is an affordable way to give extra peace of mind.
